AI agent
Software that can plan, use tools and complete multi-step work with supervision.
An AI agent is a system built around a language model that does not just answer but acts: it reads a situation, plans steps, calls tools (reading your CRM, searching documents, sending messages), checks its own results and escalates to a human when needed. Agents are built as loops with state and verification, not as single prompts, and their reliability comes from engineering: scoped permissions, guardrails, evaluation and audit trails.
Example from practice
An agent reads an inbound quote request, checks the customer's history in your CRM, drafts a priced quote, prepares it for your approval and updates the pipeline: five tools, one finished job.
